I have something I need to say,

A few days ago I was looking through the Gravity Falls tag and I saw some fan art that I found a bit disturbing. I will not describe it or go looking for it to link it or give any clues as to what it was for two reasons, 1. I’m trying to forget it   2. I don’t want to point fingers at anybody (so if you have guesses as to what I might be talking about, don’t say anything please, I don’t want that one user or that one post to get a bunch of heat for this)

Now, I’ve seen some pretty messed up fan art, and usually I’m able to just keep scrolling through and forget about it if it was something that made me really uncomfortable. But the image I saw the other day…was too much for me…
It was so bad i considered deleting my account and never getting on tumblr again. Thankfully I talked to a friend about it and we talked about how I’m going to run into stuff like that anywhere on the internet, not just on tumblr, and my friend also pointed out that that wouldn’t be fair to myself or my followers to delete my account just because I accidentally saw something that I found very unsettling. Especially since over all, I’ve had a fairly positive experience on this site.

I know I’m going to run into stuff like that on the internet, we all know that. But, to everyone, I politely ask if we could be more careful about things like that. Flag your blog as adult oriented, or even do something like putting in a “Read More” break before the picture, so the many people like me, who get wildly uncomfortable by things like that, are less likely to see something they didn’t want to see.

Again, the last thing I want to do is point fingers or anything. And by NO MEANS would I EVER ask people to stop drawing that sort of stuff. If that’s what you like/want to draw that’s fine, I have no problems at all with that, but I personally don’t want to see things like that. And I know I’m not the only one.

So please just consider this when you post fan art okay? Please remember that some of us are more sensitive than others and consider your art to wisely decide if you should label your blog as adult-oriented or add a Read More break or whatever your going do.

Thank you!

And just let me take this opportunity to say that regardless of what the art contains, all of you fan artists, are really talented! 🙂
