I love how Dipper goes to grab Stan and Mabel goes for Ford

There’s a message being conveyed here that I can’t quite pinpoint

But I love this for reasons too numerous to count

That’s all I wanted to say, carry on

@pinesonfire The younger twins are each holding back the older twin whose mistakes they almost repeated. Dipper kept a secret he shouldn’t have to try to protect his family; Mabel tried to keep her ideal future by any means necessary, thinking she knew best.

Also, the younger twins are holding back the older twin whose best characteristics they share. Dipper has Stan’s willingness to do anything for his family and tenacity; Mabel has Ford’s enthusiasm and desire to make the world a better place.

But at the same time, they’re also holding back their opposites. Ford and Dipper have the same intelligence, same drive to prove themselves, some love of the unknown and the same insecurities. Mabel and Stan are both the carefree one, the exciting and slightly eccentric one, the physically stronger twin, the one who always protected their twin. Likewise, Mabel has seemed closer to Stan than Dipper’s been, and in turn Dipper’s been closer to Ford.

And yet Mabel doesn’t run to Stan and Dipper doesn’t run to Ford. They run to the one who is most like their twin, their opposite, the yin to their yang–but as the yin and yang symbol shows, every side has a little bit of its opposite. Dipper is more like Ford, but he shares a core defining trait with Stan and that’s who he pulls back. Same with Mabel.

Fun fact about me: I like to use new episode premieres to inspire the outfit I will wear when it airs. I’ve been wanting to start posting my outfits and explaining my thought process, so here we go! Here’s my outfit inspired by today’s new Wander Over Yonder episodes: The Search for Captain Tim / The Heebie Jeebies.

@findingbuglantis

My thought process for why I chose this outfit under the cut

This outfit was mostly created based on colors. I wanted to have red and black in the outfit because those are the colors of Captain Tim. I also really wanted to include something in the outfit that was inspired The Heebies Jeebies because I am just a tiny bit more excited for that episode. Really the only thing I could think of that I could use was an image from a Disney XD summer premieres promo. There was one picture that I think is probably from The Heebie Jeebies. This post I did has a picture of the image I’m talking about (the second picture) (also sorry it’s not the best quality picture, there’s probably a better image somewhere).

Since that was really all I could think of to go on for The Heebie Jeebies (and I don’t even know for sure if it’s from that one or not) I decided to include green in my outfit, because of the background.
Then I started to wonder if I should think of something else because at this point my planned color palette included green and red, which do technically go together because they are on opposite ends of the color wheel, on the other hand, while I love Christmas, I didn’t really want to look like Christmas threw up on me 😉

(Quick detour from the topic of my outfit. Since I brought up the color wheel, how many of you guys noticed that Wander and Sylvia’s color palettes are opposite of each other? Wander is orange and Sylvia is blue, and Wander’s hat is green and Syl’s comb is a variation of red. I’ve always loved that detail about them. Okay moving on…)

Conveniently the day before I picked out this outfit I read that using different shades and tints of colors instead of bright colors can help you from looking like a Christmas present or a sports logo when wearing different colors. And conveniently I had a dark red shirt and dark green shorts. It definitely looks way less Christmasy than what I was afraid of.

Anyway and the black vesty jackety thing (idk what it is) was how I got black into the outfit. The hat is there 1. because I always wear hats and 2. because it matches well, idk if you guys can see but it has some green in there too. (The hat was actually what I started with. When I thought of red and green my mind went immediately to this hat) And the bracelet is just there because it also matches pretty well.

I got the colors of Captain Tim pretty well I think, but I wanted to sneak in something to represent his sharp teeth. So I started thinking about any triangle-like-shaped jewelry I had that could represent this razor sharp teeth. I only have two that I thought would work, and the other is a bright turquoise blue color so it didn’t really match. So instead I went with that silver necklace to represent Captain Tim’s teeth.

So yeah, that’s pretty much it. Stay tuned, I’ll probably do more posts about outfits inspired by episodes in the future.
