To the homophobes replying/bitching about this need to understand that not every kid is straight.

this show is also about a girl discovering that her mom had her as a teenager, with the writers having consulted with parent planning organizations to be respectful. the creator (who made lizzie macguire) only agreed to do a disney show again if the actress wouldn’t be treated like other disney child stars and forced to grow up too fast, but also wanted to write about more serious topics that are usually seen to be too “grown up” for children. the main actress also happens to be chinese and mixed race. and the creator fought to let her keep her short hair, while most disney child girl stars had little say even over how they dress. this show is groundbreaking on multiple levels.
