Men are using a powerful hashtag to fight back against emotional abuse
According to NCADV, 4 in 10 people have experienced some kind of coercive control from an intimate partner. Sadly, #MaybeSheDoesntHitYou is raising much-needed awareness for a widespread problem.
This is disgusting. It really is. I hope that people gain awareness of this issue and their own situation and I really hope that we all find better.
I appreciate the hell out of the women reblogging this. As a survivor of such emotional abuse, I know it’s vital for men to step forward and talk about their experiences. The old “man up” narrative needs to die.

Absolutely right. Abuse is abuse, no matter the gender

DAMN DOT WHERE’S YOUR CHILL
Taking this totally too seriously, i realize, but if you think about it, assuming that they’re actors on a tv show (since they routinely whip out scripts and complain about the writing and such), since the show always framed Yakko as the smart one and also gave him almost all the solo songs, and Wakko was always framed as the funny one and given almost all the solo skits and Dot was never framed as anything other than the cute one and wasn’t ever really given too much to do, (other than talk/sing about how cute she is,) it would be really easy for Dot to get it into her head that being cute was all she had to offer and the only reason people like her at all which would perfectly set up her being really possessive of the trait and super threatened by anyone else being adorable in her presence.
Yes yes yes this is such a good point. I honestly get concerned about Dot because her cuteness seems to be the only thing she values about herself. This is bad enough now but it’s really going to screw her up when she’s older

Oh i’ve always been concerned about it, she’s a young girl in hollywood and we all know what hollywood does to young girls. If she were a real person she would be one unflattering paparazzi photo away from an eating disorder.
This is terrible to say, but I honestly think she would have an eating disorder when she’s older for these very reasons
(Also id like to formally apologize to the OP for hijacking this post with serious stuff :/)
Oh yeah, 100% she absolutely would. Probably younger than you’d think too, i read something somewhere that says girls as young as 8 worry about their weight nowadays. and if it happened everyone, probably including her brothers, would think she was just being vain for vanity’s sake and get exasperated with her, but it could be so much deeper than that.
If she believed that her only job was being cute, then if she stopped being cute theoretically she could lose her job. But they are the Warner trio, if you lose one there is no point in keeping the others so maybe they’d get fired too. And if they are no longer studio employees they might not be allowed to live there anymore and then her whole family would be homeless because she couldn’t do her one job of ‘not being hideous on camera’.
Also maybe the whole show would be cancelled. She’s shown an awareness of how many people work on their show (in that end credit sequence where they were complaining and Wakko was all ‘who are all these names?” and Dot was all disgusted that he didn’t know “They’re artists Wakko maybe you could come by the studio sometime and meet a few of them”) they could lose their jobs too and then that would be hundreds of people whose lives would be ruined because she couldn’t do her literal one job of ‘stand there, be pretty’
On top of all this, she has no girls in her life. I mean sure Slappy and Hello Nurse are in her life and are great roll models, but she is NEVER with just them. She gets no girl time because 99% of the time she is with her brothers.
Having girl time and spending a lot of time with a good female role model could potentially completely change this future for her, and she doesn’t even seem to have that benefit
and on top of that look at the way they introduce themselves “We’re the Warner brothers” “…and the Warner sister” it’s like she’s an afterthought that has to remind people that she’s even there. Even Scratchy just refers to them as the Warner brothers. The boys introduce themselves together as a unit and then Dot comes after by herself.
I don’t mind so much her adding in “and the Warner sister” when they introduce themselves, just because it emphasizes her and gives her extra attention and I’m sure she likes that, however its definitely something that should be taken into consideration.
What I do mind is that when ANYONE else refers to them (like you said, including Scratchy) they call them the Warner brothers. Characters who have known the kids for while (and it only takes meeting them once to know one is girl) still refer to them as the Warner brothers and that drives me nuts because they damn well know Dot is a girl.
Its also sad to hear them introduce themselves by their names because half the time it goes like this: “I’m Yakko!” “I’m Wakko!” “And I’m cute!”
Could you imagine how horrified the boys would be (especially Yakko) if any of the stuff we’ve just mentioned was actually harming Dot emotionally in some way? Like if they found out that she did feel like an afterthought whose only talent was just standing there? And if she didn’t stand there good enough she would ruin the lives of everyone around her? Yakko’s like 14 what would he even do with that kind of information?
Sorry OP, we’re ruining everything! 😀
Yakko wouldn’t even know how to fix it (and what’s sad is while he could certainly help her tremendously, once the damage is done, there will always be a part of it that will be irreversible) and he would probably end up going to Scratchy to help her, given that he’s the psychiatrist, but as we’ve discussed, he’s part of the problem. You’d think a psychiatrist would know better than to call a trio of siblings, one of which being a sister, the “Warner brothers”
If Yakko were to find out, I wouldnt be surprised if he even considered quitting the show and Hollywood in an attempt to help her
Oh he’d definitely consider it, but if part of her problem was fearing that any imperfection on her part would lead to mass firings for over a hundred plus people she’d probably go into a panic if he even suggested it.
But i do wonder how talking to Scratchy would go considering they clearly don’t take him seriously or really even tell him anything personal at all. The second he asks any of them anything they go instantly into deflection mode. He’s a studio psychologist so he’s probably perfectly qualified to handle her issues but would she trust him enough to tell him anything?
I can picture Yakko getting upset at Scratchy because he doesn’t see Dot making any progress, and Scratchy just says “I can only help her if she talks to me”
I thought of something else that probably isn’t helping Dot: “helllooooo nurse!”
It can’t be any good for Dot to have her brothers constantly care more about girls appearances than anything else, as that would imbed this idea into her brain that she has to be cute and attractive to get attention, and that because she’s a girl her only use is to stand there and be cute and pretty
I dunno, she does exactly the same thing when she sees a hot guy and she doesn’t think a man’s only use is to stand around and be hot. And Rita’s a girl and her gimmick is singing, and Katie Kaboom’s gimmick is being a literal monster, so i don’t think that Dot would think a woman’s place is being pretty. Just hers since that’s all she’s ever allowed to be. No one ever compliments her or gives her attention for anything else. They straight up make fun of her singing twice in Cutie and the Beast (even Yakko does it, which dude, not cool.) even though she has a pretty lovely singing voice I think.
These are very good points. I still think this probably has a little bit of an effect on her (though no where near as much as all the other stuff we’ve mentioned).
Back to the whole helping her thing, I headcanon that while Yakko is generally the parent of the family, when it comes to specifically parenting Dot, a lot of times Yakko will recruit Wakko for help and they will often end up co parenting their sister. Putting that into play in this situation I can picture the brothers staying up long into the night, panicking and brainstorming what they could do to help her

Need more Dot psychology analysises
