Mabel Pines Appreciation Week, Day 6: Favorite Moment

“Dipper is kind of practical. He chooses the hat because he lost his last one…Mabel, okay, she’s a cute girl who wears sweaters, what’s it gonna be? Is it gonna be a doll, is it gonna be a snow globe? No. She chooses some sort of bizarre Batman weapon. I wanted to show you through that choice that Mabel is not just glittery pink sweaters. That Mabel is Mabel. She’s unpredictable, she’s specific, she’s her own character.”
Alex Hirsch

I rewatched “Tourist Trapped” recently and it really hit me how much the episode was setting up the entire show to be “Dipper solves mysteries, goofy boy-crazy sister serves as comedy relief” right up until Mabel turned the leaf-blower on those gnomes. I think it’s because the episode was largely from Dipper’s perspective (“My sister tended to look on the bright side of things…”), and for most of it he’s still considering himself as mystery-solver extraordinaire and Mabel as clueless potential zombie victim. It’s obvious he loves her all the way, but there’s a subtle shift in their dynamic from the moment he decides to trust her–the shift from “I must rescue Mabel because she has no idea what’s going on” to “Mabel and I rescue each other, it’s what we do.” Mystery Twins.

I always liked how Mabel’s claiming of the grappling hook wasn’t played as a dismissal of girly things (frankly, Stan probably asks about her wanting a doll less because she’s a girl than because it would have been completely in-character up to this point). It’s not a rejection of dolls but a wholehearted acceptance of grappling hooks. Yes, I will propel myself to the ceiling while wearing my sparkly purple cat sweater.

Mabel Pines Appreciation Week, day….uh…5? Whatever number day it is, it’s family/friend bonding day! Yay!

So here’s Mabel and Ford 🙂 these two haven’t gotten enough on screen bonding time! (Or really any on screen bonding time)

This is supposed to take place before Dipper and Mabel vs the Future (hence why I drew the rift in the first picture, which was covered up by a rag in the second picture (Ford did that))

Day 2 of Mabel Appreciation Week: AU

this is an an AU I created called the Happy Ending AU (click here to find out what this AU is (note that this art probably doesn’t make sense unless you read it)

Special thanks to @orangeoctopi7  who suggested this  “I think it’d be cool to see Mabel pixel-boxing. Maybe Stan teaching her?”

sorry about the bad images, I had to take pictures of the drawings with my phone :/

In case you can’t read the speech bubbles:
2nd picture:
Mabel: How’d I do Grunkle Stan?
Stan: Sweetie, only you can kick butt that well and still looks adorable while doing it!
Stan: Do you wanna fight a real character?

3rd picture:
Stan: Hang on sweetie! Let me find the camera!
Mabel: Grunkle Stan!
Stan: It’s your first fight! I wanna record it!

Hope you all like it!

And yes, that’s one of the ghosts from pac-man
