I just looked it up and got really sad cause most monkeys lifespans arent Past 30…. but huggys from space so we can kind of make our own rules

Well if it helps, by Earth standards, he’s technically a chimp, which according to google their lifespan is 40-50 years, which is better. Also, if the animal is in captivity the lifespan is closer to 50-60. Now Huggy/Bob is not in captivity, but I’m pretty sure the reason animals in captivity live longer is because they have access to medical stuff and plentiful amounts of food and water and all that, and I think it’s safe to assume that whether he’s a citizen on Lexicon or the Botsford’s beloved family pet, he probably has access to all these things when he needs them. But you’re absolutely right! Since he’s from space we can apply different logic to him. Especially since I’m pretty sure it was confirmed that while he’s a chimp by Earth standards, he’s a monkey by Lexicon standards, which implies that the biological rules of Lexicon and the ones of Earth are different.

Huggy’s age and lifespan depend on ssooo many factors that require us to know more about Lexicon to make an educated guess.

  • How much do chimps on Earth vary from those on Lexicon?
  • Is aging different for humanoid Lexiconians than Earth Humans? (Although we can probably guess no for this one since Becky is aging normally on Earth)
  • Is aging different between humanoid Lexiconians vs monkey Lexiconians?

And all that’s really just trying to figure out his lifespan. Finding his actual age would depend on:

  • At what point does Lexicon consider the monkeys grown up enough to join the airforce and did Huggy join the air force immediately?
  • How long does it take to become a captain in the airforce on Lexicon?
  • How long is a year on Lexicon compared to Earth?
  • And how long had Huggy been a captain prior to the crash?

Because of all the factors, we’ll probably never have a canon answer to his age or lifespan. But hey, that just means we can make whatever rules we want! Huggy is immortal

A WG question I have is: what exactly did huggy leave behind in order to take care of Becky? We know he was a pilot, and we know he has a brother who he misses very much, and that’s about it. Did he even know Becky’s family before she sneaked onto his spaceship? Or was it a random baby he’d never seen before? Oh also, Becky telling her origin story in “WG makes a mistake,” did huggy tell her what happened or does she remember somehow? Are there any more ways lexiconians differ from humans? Idk.

This will probably be long so brace yourself
I’m finding myself wondering more and more about what Huggy’s life was before Earth. I have tried to analyze other things we know about him in hopes of piecing together some new information, but I haven’t had much luck. There’s part of me that thinks we don’t know much about his old life because Becky doesn’t know much about it. Bob has probably told her some things, but I’d imagine that he doesn’t tell her much because she’s the reason he doesn’t have that old life anymore. Maybe he’s afraid if he tells her about the good parts of his life on Lexicon, she’ll feel guilty for inadvertently taking him away from all that.

In regards to whether or not he knew Becky and her biological family before the crash, when I write I always assume she was just some random kid who snuck onboard, but as far as theories go, I believe he actually did know her and her family, or at least knew of them. My reasoning comes from part four of The Rise of Miss Power. There’s a statue in the ship that honestly just looks like an adult version of Becky. And we know she is significant in some way to Becky because of the amount of emphasis that was put on this statue. Combine this with the fact that Wordgirl’s major motivation in this scene was to get her mom out of jail (so the audience has mothers on the brain), from a writing perspective, I think they were really trying to let us know that this woman was Becky’s mom. How does this relate to Bob knowing her? Well, why would there be a statue of her if she wasn’t important? Not to mention a picture of this woman can be seen in the book Wordgirl reads in the same scene. Depending on why she was important, Huggy could have met her, and maybe her daughter prior to crashing into Earth, even if he didn’t necessarily know them very well. If nothing else, he probably knew who they were. He maybe didn’t even recognize Becky (depending on how much her mother allowed her to be in the spotlight with her) and potentially doesn’t know who her mother was, even if he actually knows her mother if that makes sense.

As far as Becky remembering her origin story, I firmly believe that Huggy told her and that she doesn’t remember a thing. She was very little, she clearly couldn’t even walk yet, so I doubt she could remember the details of this event. That and there were some things she said that, to me, sound like things Huggy would have told her as opposed to her remembering. Like when she said she “startled” him. That implies his reaction was somewhat mild, maybe a little jump, but he clearly freaked out and leaped out of his chair. This sounds more like something he said to her to sound a little braver. Also when she calls him the greatest pilot, that’s either something he said to her, bragging about his abilities, or it’s her bragging about him, like how children will go “My daddy’s a singer, he’s the best singer in the whole world!!” That being said, even if she doesn’t remember details, I’d be shocked if she didn’t have some vague subconscious memories of the ship crashing. I mean that’s gotta be pretty traumatic, especially for a young child.
While on this topic, I would also like to suggest the idea that if Huggy told her this origin story, we technically don’t know how much of it is real. I had a friend who doesn’t watch this show, but knows I love it, ask me “Why was she sent to Earth?” and that got me thinking, what if she was sent to Earth? For all we know she was sent to Earth intentionally and the story Huggy told her is complete crap, just a story he made up so she wouldn’t ask questions. Probably not, but it’s kinda fun to think about.

It would be very interesting to know how much different lexiconians are to humans. There may be some things we can guess on, using Becky as a reference. She has been in space various times without an oxygen helmet, so I have a headcanon that lexiconians’ lungs are significantly larger than humans’ so that they can keep in air longer. Becky being able to be in space without an oxygen mask also implies that Lexicon has less air to breathe on it than Earth, otherwise, there’s no way Lexiconians would have evolved in a way that would allow them to be in space. I think anyway. This is far from my area of expertise, so if anyone else has any thought on this or can correct mine, please do. 🙂

I agree with your thoughts on the importance of the relationship Wendy and Mabel have. And I would like to add that Wendy probably really enjoys having a younger girl to engage with. She also strikes me as being fairly protective of Mabel in a way she isn’t with Dipper (or at least never had a chance to show) best demonstrated in The Last Mabelcorn when she went on the adventure to stop these younger girls from stepping into a bear trap and was later the most vocal in calling out the unicorn.

In regards to this post

Sorry for the late responce anon!

I never picked up on her protectiveness, but wow that’s a really good point!

And to add onto your point that Wendy probably likes having a younger girl to talk with, I saw someone point out in the tags that that Wendy comes from a family of all boys. To expand on that and be more specific, Wendy has been living in a family without a mom for a while. If I were to guess her youngest brother’s age, and if we were to assume her mom left/died (probably died) not long after her youngest brother was born, it’s likely that Wendy went through her preteen years without a mother in her life, so it’s probably really meaningful to her to be able to be that older girl role model for someone else who also doesn’t have their mom around (even if it is just a temporary separation)

omg i just came across your ford/mabel comic and its so so cute! i hope you keep doing more art it’s really cute :3 just in general i like your blog, you seem like a very positive and happy person in general and idk just wanted to let you know. keep being awesome!

Hi! Sorry, it’s taken me a few days to get back to you anon!
Thank you so much! ❤ I feel so bad I haven’t done more fanart and fanfics, especially since I keep promising to post some. Messages like this are definitely helpful to motivate me to do more! So thank you 🙂
So basically if you guysl want to see more stuff by me, please please please bug me and remind me I promised you guys stuff, and show me that you like it, it’ll keep me going to get messages and reminders like that.

Here’s a link to some other fanarts I’ve done, if you want to see more. If you want more Mabel/Ford bonding, here’s a fanfic (currently the only fanfic I’ve posted) with some bonding time between them (it was written before the GF finale, so if there is anything in that fanfic that doesn’t fit with the finale, that’s why)

I’m also planning to post more Mabel and Ford bonding art on Thursday, because of the Ford Safety Week thing. (Those themed weeks also seem to be very motivating for me lol maybe I need personal themed weeks to get stuff done xD)

Anyway, thank you anon, I’ll work harder to get more stuff posted ❤
